Curriculum Vitae

Professor Teng-Hu Cheng is currently a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida in 2015 and participated in the Intel IoT research program in the United States. He has over 10 years of experience in UAV control. In 2014, his paper was selected from among 904 submissions to receive the Hugo Schuck Best Paper Award from the American Automatic Control Council (ACC). In 2016, he was appointed as a Young Chair Professor at National Chiao Tung University.
In 2018, he received the Ministry of Science and Technology’s (MOST) Outstanding Young Scholar Research Program (three-year term) to conduct research on autonomous UAV technologies, and won Excellent Performance at the MOST AIslanders Show. In 2023, he was awarded the Wu Ta-You Memorial Award by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and the Outstanding Teaching Award by National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University.
In 2024, he became the Chief Robotics Scientist at TronFuture Inc., responsible for AI-based UAV defense and interception, as well as GPS-denied UAV positioning and navigation, contributing to securing numerous international orders for the company. He also received the Excellent Young Engineering Professor Award from the Chinese Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Robotics Society of Taiwan, and the Chinese Automatic Control Society.
In 2025, he achieved the highest score in the 2nd National Defense Application UAV Challenge. To date, he has published over 50 academic papers in the fields of control and robotics, many of which have appeared in top-tier or highly influential international journals and conferences, such as IEEE TAC, RA-L, TCST, TRO, IEEE/ASME TMECH, ACC, and CDC.
